Cook’n’Escape with Confidence

If someone tells you venturing into the wilderness is easy they are either lying or have no experience. Wilderness is no cakewalk. Regardless of someone’s experience level, it’s always intimidating. Mountains, deserts, tundra, forests, jungles, have something in common: they make you feel small. It’s all about doing the first step because once immersed in the wild, just do your best! And most of the time all goes well. But when things go wrong, they turn sourly fast. For sure, a wilderness experience is worth all the doubts, dangers, and pains. But, prepare adequately.

How to travel safely away from civilization? How to be ready for the adventure? Three levels of preparation are required.

1- Body and mind.

Of course, they go together. A minimum of fitness is necessary to venture far from home. Basic exercises will get muscles and cardio ready, and more importantly, they harden the soul. Go outdoors! Toughen-up! The challenge of the “trail” is much more mental than physical in the end. Make physical training a daily practice. Sharpen the mindset. Increase the push-ups. A successful outdoor adventure mindset is a mix of discipline, courage, and common sense. The goal is not to become a super-soldier, it’s being ready for a healthy dose of adversity.

2- Knowledge and skills.

Have you read about the region you want to explore? Please do more than a google search! What are the dangers? What animals inhabit the area? Do you know the plants to use as food or medicine? Have you practiced knot-making skills? Can you portage a canoe without breaking your neck? What are the safest creek crossing techniques? Review a few essential bushcraft skills maybe? Learn! Every little skill or info may help tenfold in the field.

3-The right gear.

Would you start a backpacking trip without proper boots? Do you mind sleeping in a leaky tent? Are you OK eating in cookware that leaks dangerous chemicals? Do your due diligence, get informed, and don’t cheap out on outdoor gear. Adequate equipment makes the outdoors safer. What starts as an easy, “blue sky” day in the wilderness can transform into a survival scenario. When the going gets tough, adequate gear eases the overall pain.

Cook’n’Escape was created to bring more confidence to people venturing in wilderness areas, people serious about the outdoors, and those who have a survival mindset. While we do our best across our social media to improve mindset, knowledge, and skills, in terms of equipment we choose to provide titanium cookware and drinkware to our customers. Why titanium? Because it is the optimal cookware material for outdoor people! Light, strong, healthy, it won’t disappoint! But more importantly, you can bet your life on it!
